The Editor, Sir:

Dr Peter Phillips, in commenting on the charge made by Bruce Golding that he signed treaty documents with the USA without the approval of the Cabinet, says he did nothing wrong (illegal).

I hope we are mature as a people to see something wrong with any minister of government signing documents with another country that will affect the entire population without the approval of the Government (Cabinet) and or Opposition.

I see something wrong when a government sells government property or entering into agreements with other business entity (foreign or domestic) without a debate or the input of the Opposition. Over the years, this 'no accountable, go-it-alone policy' has led to politicians' selfish interest taking precedence over that of the nation.

Changes as to how our government is run will come only if and when special interest groups organise with the people and put pressure on the PNP and JLP to legislate needed change in government.
